Questions and answers
What is a go/no-go game?
A go/no-go game shows a stream of signals. You respond quickly to 'go' signals and deliberately hold back on 'no-go' signals. Because most signals are 'go', tapping becomes automatic, and the challenge is stopping yourself when a no-go signal appears.
What does a go/no-go game measure?
Within the game it measures two things: how often you correctly hold back on no-go signals (false taps are errors of commission) and how often you respond in time to go signals (misses are errors of omission). Researchers use go/no-go tasks to study response inhibition, but a short online game is not a clinical assessment.
Is a faster reaction time better?
Only up to a point. Responding faster usually increases false taps on no-go signals. A good score balances speed with accuracy. That is why this challenge reports correct responses first and reaction time second.
Can I play without a timer?
Yes. Turn on Relaxed pace to give every signal a longer window. In the SkillArena app, Deep Focus offers a 30-trial go/no-go mode with Relaxed pace and Reduced Motion support.
